Queer Medical Student Association (QMSA)
Who are QMSA (Queer Medical Student Association)?
We are a group of queer and allied medical students at California Northstate University with a goal of improving our own CNU community to be as inclusive as possible for members of the LQBTQIAA+ community. We are doing this by creating a safe space for fellow students and advocating for better queer healthcare education at CNU.
QMSA also aims to promote the betterment of LGBTQIAA+ healthcare both on campus and within the greater Sacramento community through outreach with local LGBTQIAA+ organizations.
This organization is open to everyone, so we invite you to stop by or contact our board members if you would like to be a part of us!
Why the extra ‘A’ in LGBTQIAA+?
We consider Allies a vital part of the inclusivity in the LGBTQIAA+ community!
The mission of this SIG is to build an accepting, judgement-free environment and foster community amongst our LGBTQIAA+ students, staff members, and faculty at CNUCOM. We will promote inclusivity and tolerance while educating others on disparities in and out of healthcare faced by LGBTQIAA+ members.
Goals and objectives for 2023-2024 include:
Creating a judgement-free safe space and connecting our CNU COM LGBTQIAA+ medical students with fellow community members, allies, and resources.
Introducing more LGBTQIAA+ Healthcare-centered education and inclusivity in our Medical Course Curriculum.
Conducting local outreach with Queer-friendly healthcare clinics and organizations in the Sacramento and Elk Grove regions.
